About me
Emmanuel Randle's education, research background, engineering leadership, and professional interests in natural hazards and catastrophe risk.
I am Emmanuel Randle, a doctoral researcher in Civil Engineering at Oregon State University, specializing in structural engineering. My research focuses on earthquake and tsunami risk, uncertainty, damage modeling, and community resilience.
I enjoy work that connects detailed engineering questions with their consequences for people and institutions. Alongside my PhD, I developed an independent earthquake catastrophe-risk project that follows losses through insurance and reinsurance contracts and explores parametric risk transfer.
My professional interests include catastrophe modeling, vulnerability research, reinsurance analytics, and insurance-linked securities. I want to understand both the physical risk and the financial decisions that depend on it.

Leadership & service
I serve as Co-Chair of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Student Chapter and Treasurer of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Student Chapter at Oregon State University.
Bringing a reinsurance perspective to campus
I coordinated “Natural Catastrophe Risk and Models: A (re)insurer’s Perspective,” a guest seminar with Dr. Giannis Gidaris of Swiss Re. I invited him, managed the correspondence, and designed the event poster. The seminar connected our engineering community with an industry perspective on natural catastrophe risk and modeling.

Other chapter activities have included a COWI speaker meeting, Shake Table Night, and opportunities for students to meet and exchange ideas. I also volunteered at the OSU College of Engineering booth at the 13th National Conference on Earthquake Engineering.
